Not many people know this but for many years, together with a very good friend of mine, we've made and sold display stands for artists. It all came about because my wife, Sara Gilbert, who is a painter and print-maker, and me could not find any display stands for hire that we could transport in our car. So over a pub meal I asked Andy if he could design something for us, which he duly did. He made some for us and we then decided to see if they would be of interest to other artists, and over time we have sold them to various art groups and individuals.
Sadly, due to Brexit, it is no longer viable to produce our stands as the cost of the aluminium section that forms the frame of the units has increased too much. Other materials have also gone up in price. So we have decided to stop making them.
I have ten units which are available to hire, about which you can read more on the Devon Art and Display Stands page.
